Public Amenity Objections
Below is a list of objection paragraphs relating to the Green Belt. They are not in any particular order. Either cut and paste the relevant objections into your letter, or use them as seeds for your own ideas.
* Apart from the residents of Wrightington, thousands of residents of West Lancs use the Public Footpaths and Bridleways of Wrightington to enjoy a quiet and peaceful stroll in the countryside. The construction of this wind turbine would ruin what little countryside we have left in West Lancs.
* The proposed location of this wind turbine is hundreds of feet above sea level. It would be able to be seen for many miles around. This would be possibly the most visually intrusive development in the landscape of West Lancashire - ever.
* Lancashire County Councils own slogan is Where Everyone Matters. In light of the lack of any public economic benefit, the lack of assurance on health and safety concerns, the loss of visual amenities, the danger caused by radar interference, the loss of Green Belt, I am asking the planners to prove to the people of West Lancs that their views do actually matter.
* The area around the proposed wind turbine is used by many groups of people from far and wide. This area is not only a local recreation area, but it is also used by people from far and wide, including ramblers, running clubs, horse riding schools and many others. These activities actually do contribute to the local economy, unlike the proposed wind turbine.
* There are public rights of way, bridleways and byways in all the LCAs (landscape character areas) that are used frequently by local residents and from further afield; and these provide more intimate views and long views of the countryside which because of its very varied nature, provides a wide range of experiences. That is enhanced by the remarkably open and largely unspoilt nature of most of the farmland and these are recognised by West Lancashire Replacement Local Plan Supplementary Planning Guidance – updated 2007 as being Areas of Landscape History - County Importance and that its qualities weigh significantly in favour of its conservation.
* The qualities of tranquillity and peacefulness, will be severely compromised and are important and valued characteristics that would be seriously eroded by this proposal.
* The introduction of a single turbine of the scale proposed – 90m high introduces a substantial adverse magnitude of change to the landscape character of the locality.
* The turbine would be a starkly visible and dominant structure for a range of public rights of way, footpaths, bridleways and byways. The turbine would have a very substantial adverse effect on the experience of local and recreational users of these facilities because of its constant active presence.
